Visitors to Went Weaving will observe weaving looms in action, a significant display of woven fabrics and unique items, many of which are for sale. Introduction classes are offered regularly with advanced classes on request. Commissioned work available. Open most weekends and by appointment.
Handweaving is a long established method of fabric production with its earliest origins BC. The industrial revolution saw a rapid decline in hand weaving in the developed nations as the new machinery produced larger quantities of fabric in a fraction of the time. Today, artisan weavers keep alive handweaving knowledge and skills with their exquisite works from fine lacework, scarves, shawls and wraps to table runners, placements and rugs.
